Programme

Here is the programme for Climate Camp 2026. Each day is designed with a key theme in mind. The day begins with a Morning Gathering, where there will be an introduction to the day, distribution of labour, short grounding exercise.

Friday 7th August

Aim: To reflect on the history of movements in Ireland, to share practical skills for organising and to explore the connection to place and politics of care

9-10.30am: Morning Meeting and Grounding

Introduction to the day, distribution of labour, short grounding exercise

10.30-12.30 Morning Session

History of our Movements: This session explores where we have come from and what we are building on. What were the wins? What tactics worked, what tactics didn’t work?

Parallel sessions:

  1. Resistance at Shannon Airport with speakers from Shannon Watch, Workers Solidarity Movement (WSM) and peace activist Colm Roddy.
  2. Resistance against gas with speakers from Shell to Sea, Love Leitrim and Stop Shannon LNG Coalition
  3. Feminist Organising with speakers involved in the Abortion Rights Campaign (ARC) and and the Revolutionary Anarcha-Feminist Group (RAG)

12.30-2pm: Lunch

2-2.30pm: Somatic Practice / play / connect

2.30-4pm: Afternoon Session

Organizing in the current moment: This session explores where we are now. What are the skills and tactics we need to build?

Parallel practical skill share sessions for organising, tactics and strategies including:

  1. Decision making in DA: Climate Camp Scotland

  2. Getting involved with Talamh Óg: Youth movement for food sovereignty

  3. Banner making space

4-4.30pm: Break

4.30-6pm: Last Session

Politics of Connection and Care: As the final session of the day, we turn our attention to practices that connect us to our bodies, the land and to one another through parallel workshops on:

  1. ‘Foraging with a twist’

  2. Agroforestry and Walking Tour of the Land

  3. Singing and Connection with Branwen

6-8pm: Dinner

8-10pm: Evening Programme 

Each evening will have an open programme including storytelling, poetry, Céilí, craic agus ceol. Offerings welcome

Aim: To explore the interconnected themes of anti-militarism, anti-imperialism and environmental justice through discussions with communities on the frontline

9-10.30am: Morning Meeting and Grounding

Introduction to the day, distribution of labour, short grounding exercise

10.30-12.30 Morning Session

Actions against air bases: Resisting imperialism in Ireland, Britain and Cyprus. With US military out of Shannon campaign, Cairde Palestine, Afoa Cyprus and others.

This session is about making internationalist connections in the struggle against genocide and imperialism, and to learn from the tactics being used in other contexts to resist the war machine from inside of and on the peripheries of Europe.

12.30-2pm: Lunch

2-2.30pm: Somatic Practice / play / connect

2.30-4pm: Afternoon Session

Extractivism and Militarism: With CAIM (Communities Against the Injustice of Mining) and the campaign against Aughinish Alumina

This session explores the link between extractivism, especially mining for critical minerals, and the military industrial complex. Starting with a short talk, followed by the opportunity to hear from communities resisting extractivism across Ireland.

4.30-6pm: Last Session

A conversation on LNG

World cafe to discuss the threat of LNG in Ireland, deepen our understanding of the issues, identify opportunities to take action and build power to resist!

6-8pm: Dinner

8-10pm: Evening Programme 

Each evening will have an open programme including storytelling, poetry, Céilí, craic agus ceol. Offerings welcome

Aim: To develop strategy and take actions forward- how do we build the coalitions for a demilitarised and decolonial world?

9-10.30am: Morning Meeting and Grounding

Introduction to the day, distribution of labour, short grounding exercise

10.30-12.30 Morning Session

Strategizing actions and connections moving forward Using a method called ‘open space technology’ people will be invited to put forward a suggestion.

These may be on themes such as:

  • Linking campaigns
  • Strategically moving campaigns forward
  • Integrating learning from across the camp
  • The Cumann system: Reflecting on care, craic, communication and collectivism

12.30-2pm: Lunch

2-2.30pm: Ceremony/closing
