Join us for a day of resistance against the proposed mine in the Sperrins!
The Day of Resistance will happen at the Greencastle’s People’s Office (GPO), in Greecastle, the Sperrins Mountains, on the 23 of August. The Save Our Sperrins campaign have been steadfast in their 10 years of opposition to the proposed mine, with the campaign continually blocking the project’s development. This struggle remains ongoing, with the campaign currently active on a number of fronts to ensure that the mine will not go ahead. The GPO, an occupied site on the land of the proposed mine, has been an important hub of resistance to the planned goldmining in the region.
On the 23rd of August we will gather together in the Sperrins from all over Ireland to show the strength of the anti-mining campaigns on our island and to take back the land that the proposed mine would privatise and destroy. This day will include creative protest, education, eating together, art, a ceilĂ, music and camping overnight. It will begin with a family fun day event in the village of Greencastle and will continue with a programme of activities at the GPO and the surrounding areas from 2pm onwards. People are also welcome to camp overnight at the site.
If you are planning to come we would ask you to fill out this registration form so that we can get a sense of numbers and other important information for the day. We will communicate mainly by a signal chat which we will add you to after filling out the form and more detailed information will be sent out over the coming weeks: https://cryptpad.fr/form/#/2/form/view/0jynmMo54bIhMOXX4lnyTANKKjS-uXCFNCs90aaaV80/
