Data Centres are energy vampires: Protest May 21st 2023

Slí Eile have organised a protest against Data Centre expansion and we would love it if you could show your support by joining us on the day.

When? Sunday 21st May at 2pm

Where? Dublin City, starting outside Amazon HQ on Burlington Road, and
walking to Meta offices on 4 Grand Canal Quay.

DATA CENTRES ARE ENERGY VAMPIRES!
The protest will take the form of a walking protest, with different
stops along the way. There will be music, talks and theatre
performances!

This protest hopes to highlight:
  • The extractive nature of data centre development in Ireland
  • The connection between Data Centres and Colonialism
  • The severe strain they are set to pose on Ireland’s energy grid
  • The link between data centres and increased burning of fossil fuels to power them
Vampire-themed fancy dress encouraged, to represent the insatiable energy demands of expanding corporations that will continue feeding on Ireland’s energy, if not stopped.

Want to help us make signs? Come to the Dublin Anarchist Bookfair on Saturday 20th May (the day before the protest) at The Teacher’s Club, 36 Parnell Square, Dublin 1. We will have a table for making protest signs from 2-5pm.
